Vikings Release Kicker Blair Walsh

Despite multiple votes of confidence in the off-season from Coach Zimmer and the Vikings organization, Walsh could never get out of his own head and recover.

The former Pro Bowler has missed four extra points and was 12 for 16 in field goals this season.

With the team on a four-game losing streak and points hard to come by from a struggling offense, it only makes sense to cut ties with the kicker now instead of later, while the team can still fight for a playoff spot - something that seemed almost impossible to fathom 5 weeks ago when they started the season 5-0.

The team will bring in kickers this week in hopes of filling the position as they host the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday at noon at U.S. Bank Stadium.

UPDATE: The team is expected to bring in Kai Forbath to replace Walsh.
