One of Rochester, MN’s Newest Restaurants Announces It’s Closing
The restaurant scene in downtown Rochester, Minnesota, has changed a lot in the past few years, with popular places like Newt’s, Hefe Rojo, and Pescara all closing.
Last year, The Well Dining opened where Dooley's used to be, but it shut down within a year. The Half Barrel, located on the corner of 1st and 3rd, also closed in 2023. Unfortunately, the downtown Rochester food scene continues to evolve, with yet another restaurant closing its doors. The announcement was made on social media, read the statement below.
New Restaurants in Downtown Rochester, MN
There has been some good news for food lovers lately. A few new restaurants have opened, including BEBAP, a Korean-inspired spot with a seasonal menu that changes throughout the year.
Ruth’s Chris, the top chain restaurant in America, also opened a location in downtown Rochester.
Another new place, Mill Valley Kitchen, just opened this month in the spot where Pescara used to be.

Last July, I spoke with Timothy Ross about his new restaurant. He was excited about the menu and told me it would feature scratch food with American classics like burgers and sandwiches and a variety of international dishes.
I bugged Tim for details for the story announcing the new restaurant and he was always very kind and generous with his time. I'm bummed the project didn't work out.
507 Public House celebrated one-year in downtown Rochester in late July but just shared a note on Facebook announcing they are closing.
Good news and bad news. Let's start with the good. July 25th we broke the one-year mark. That's always the harshest. Thank you, to all our wonderful guests that got us to that point. Bad news Saturday, August 25th will be our final day of operations. We will miss all the wonderful guests.
