Spring is just around the corner, and the perfect time to start planning summer activities. For my crew, nothing is better than floating down a river with a cooler full of drinks, getting a horrible sunburn. It's a must-do every year. Here are three river floating trips to take this upcoming season.

Platte River - Two Rivers Campground and Tubing - Royalton

Two rivers is proud of its reputation of being a family friendly destination and we welcome family friendly guests & groups. Tube rental/shuttle fee is $12.00 per tube and includes access to the private landing. No outside tubes allowed. Shuttles run weekdays on the hour 12 - 4 p.m, and weekends anytime between 11 - 4 p.m.

Rum River - Country Camping Tent and RV Park- Isanti

This campground offers kayaks, canoes, and tubes of all sizes. plus you can park your camper or tent there and stay for a while! They also have a shuttle that takes you to the starting point where you launch off and have a nice 2 mile float back to the camp ground. The average time is between 1.5 and three hours depending on the river conditions.

Cannon River - Welch Mill Canoeing and Tubing - Welch

Welch Mill Canoeing and Tubing offers guided tubing trips down the Cannon River, and they offer long and short trips. Weekday tube rentals are $10, and weekend and holiday rentals are $12.

Ottertail River - K&K Tubing - Detroit Lakes

He longest tubing ride for the cost in the state. Depending on the river levels, the trip can take two or even three hours, and even better, you can take a second ride for free. That means that you could spend up to 6 hours on the river for the cost of one ride ($7 per person). Shuttle service is included and rental tubes are available.

Long Prairie River - Long Prairie

For the more adventurous tuber. There are no guided floats, so you are on your own so go at your own risk. My suggestion (from experience) get on the river at the bridge on the intersection of County RD 11 and County RD 86. Park a car at one of the canoe launch sites along County 38 so you have a ride back to your original launch site.

Zumbro River - Zumbro River Ratz - Millville

You can rent a kayak, tube or canoe and catch a ride up the Zumbro River to Hammond for a 2-4 hour float. Show up, pick your floating device, sign a waiver, and they will shuttle you up to Hammond where you will get on the river and float back down.
