8 Years Ago ‘The Simpsons’ Correctly Predicted This Olympic Events Medals
The TV show 'The Simpsons' has correctly predicted another piece of history! Joining the list of correct predictions which includes: Donald Trump winning the presidency, Lady Gaga performing at the Superbowl, and the FIFA scandal, and Team USA winning gold in curling at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
In an episode that aired in 2010, "Boy meets Curl", Homer and Marge Simpson put together a curling team that went on to win the gold medal over Sweden. The writers of the show had some fun on Twitter with the win.
One "Simpsons” writer, Rob LaZebnik, who is credited with creating the episode, tweeted his congratulations to the victorious team and playfully mentioned the men were the second team to beat Sweden in curling at the Olympics.
“Congrats to USA Curling 2018 on their gold! Not the first time the US beat Sweden, though. Marge and Homer did it eight years ago.” - Rob LaZebnik @Rlazebnik
Just like the episode, the U.S. Men’s Olympic Curling Team won a gold medal Saturday after defeating Sweden 10-7 in the Pyeong Chang Games. The victory is the second curling medal ever for the United States. Best of all the 2018 gold medal winning team had 3 men from Duluth's Curling Club, skipper John Shuster, Mankato-born John Landsteiner, and Tyler George.
With 'The Simpsons' being so good at predicting the future, will we soon see a three-eyed fish named 'Blinky'?
