Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police are reporting the arrest of a man from Alabama as a suspect in a sexual assault reported at a Rochester hotel over the weekend.

Police Captain Casey Moilanen says officers were sent to the Microtel Inn and Suites along Highway 52 in northwest Rochester Sunday morning to check on reports that a woman was heard screaming and calling for help. The responding officers discovered a 17-year-old Rochester girl in the hotel room and she alleged she had been sexually and physically assaulted by 27-year-old Anthony Johnson.

The police report says the girl told investigators she met Johnson through an online dating website, and after going out on a date the previous night, he took her to the hotel room and assaulted her. She also accused Johnson of taking her cell phone to prevent her from calling 911.

He is being held in the Olmsted County jail on suspicion of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct and other charges. Captain Moilanen says Johnson denies the allegations.
