Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Rochester man who failed to report for his sentencing hearing earlier this week in Olmsted County court.

31-year-old Andrew Gustafson entered guilty pleas to a list of felony charges in February. He admitted to charges of second-degree aggravated robbery, burglary, criminal vehicular operation, fleeing police, and a drug offense stemming from crimes that he committed over the past two years.

His aggravated robbery conviction was for an incident that occurred in July 2020 during which Gustafson was accused of brandishing a handgun during a robbery at a Southeast Rochester home. The fleeing police charge was filed against him after he led police on a high-speed chase last May that prompted the response of a State Patrol helicopter after he abandoned his vehicle and ran into a wooded area just southwest of the city.

Gustafson was charged with the criminal vehicular operation count in December after he was arrested for causing a traffic crash by driving through a red light while trying to evade Rochester police. He was taken to St. Mary's hospital following the injury crash, but fled while the arresting officer was busy obtaining a search warrant for a sample of his blood for an alcohol test. Rochester police reported that he was later apprehended inside the Generose Parking Ramp at the Mayo Clinic Hospital complex.

Under state sentencing guidelines, Gustafson faces a presumptive sentence of 19 months in prison. It's unclear if his "no-show" for his sentencing will have an impact on the severity of his punishment.
