I had never been to one before, so in my mind, Burlington was just Burlington Coat Factory,  a store that only sold coats. I must admit that I was a bit confused when everyone around me got so excited about the company opening a location in Rochester in May 2024.

A coworker set me straight, explaining that they had dropped “Coat Factory” from their name and sell much more than just outerwear. Burlington launched its first Rochester location in the Shoppes on Maine retail district, and now they're opening a second location on the other end of town.

So, What Does Burlington Sell?

Burlington carries clothing for men, women, and kids. They have everything from everyday stuff to more professional looks. There’s also a bunch of home items like kitchenware and décor, and they also have health and beauty products.

It’s kind of a mix of everything, and the prices are generally lower than what you'd find at a typical department store. It’s the kind of place where you might walk in for a shirt and leave with a bunch of stuff you didn't know you needed.

Burlington Opening a Second Rochester, MN Location

Rochester's first Burlington is located right next to Target South, which is pretty smart. A ton of people visit Target every day, and I'm sure a bunch of those people find their way over to Burlington whether they were planning to or not.

The company is sticking to that playbook with its second location.

Back in February, news broke that Joann Fabrics would be closing hundreds of stores nationwide. By March, it was announced that all locations would be shutting down. It looks like that building won't stay empty for much longer.

A sign for the new Burlington is now posted on the former Joann Fabrics building next to Target North. While there’s no official opening date yet, Google has already listed the second Rochester location on Maps.
