Canton Teenager Killed in Car Accident

A crash on Highway 52 claimed the life of a 16-year-old last night. 

The wreck happened around 9 p.m. between Fountain and Chatfield. A 55-year-old woman from Illinois was driving a truck northbound when she crossed the center line, and hit a southbound car head-on. The driver of the southbound car, 16-year-old Kaitlyn Hansen of Canton, was killed in the collision. The Illinois woman was airlifted to Saint Mary's Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was detected in her system.

The highway was closed for several hours last night as the State Patrol investigated the accident, but has since reopened.
