Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The number of active COVID-19 cases being tracked by Olmsted County Public Health continues to edge higher.

The recent increase in the number of new coronavirus infections locally has pushed the number of known active cases in Olmsted County to a new high of 187. 17 new cases of the coronavirus infection were reported today in Olmsted County and were among the 403 new cases reported statewide. The cumulative total in Minnesota is now over 43,000.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported six new COVID-19 deaths throughout the state. It has now been 12 days since the state reported a single-day death toll in the double-digits.

Hospitalizations due to the new coronavirus continue to trend slightly lower. The overall number of people hospitalized currently stands at 236, while 107 of the patients are in intensive care units. The number of ICU beds used by COVID-19 patients is the lowest since April 23rd.
