St Paul (KROC AM News) - For the first time, the Minnesota Department of Health is reporting more than 3500 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in one 24-hour period.

The department’s Thursday report shows 3532 new tests have been confirmed, raising the cumulative total to more than 70,000 (70,276).

The number of confirmed cases has risen to 5136, an increase of nearly 500 from Tuesday’s report.

The department is also reporting 24 more deaths, increasing the total to 343. More than 10-percent of those came from one nursing home in the Twin Cities area.

KARE TV is reporting 47 deaths have been confirmed at the St. Therese nursing home in New Hope. The TV station report says that is the highest of all nursing homes in the state.
