Treasure Island Resort and Casino, located at 5734 Sturgeon Lake Road in Welch, Minnesota, is open 24 hours a day with 2,000 slot machines, 40 traditional table games, a dedicated poker room, video poker, and keno. The popular casino also recently added Dealerless Poker.

I enjoy playing card games like blackjack and poker, and for me, part of the fun is chatting with the dealer and fiddling with my chips while they manage the game. With dealerless poker, that interactive element doesn't exist.

What Is Dealerless Poker?

If you’ve played poker before, you know the game can come with plenty of downtime—shuffling, dealing, and waiting on other players. Dealerless poker removes all of that by using automation and touchscreen technology to keep things moving.

The result? More hands per hour, more chances to win, and more action for both players and the casino.

Jake Kalpakian, CEO of Jackpot Digital, explained this new gambling technology to CDC Gaming, "Picture players sitting at a table that’s basically one giant iPad. And it’s faster gameplay, which generates more money. Dealers don’t have to count out chips or shuffle cards, for example."

The video below shows dealerless poker in action.

I like the idea of speeding up the game, but I still think I'd prefer to have a real dealer to chat with and physical chips to clink together. If you're like me, don't worry, Treasure Island still offers regular poker with dealers.
