Did You Know Taking Pictures On Railroad Tracks Is Illegal
I've seen senior pictures, engagement pictures, and even new-born pics taken on railroad tracks. While they can provide a cool backdrop, taking photos on railroad tracks is illegal. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says taking photos on railroad tracks is dangerous and illegal everywhere because the tracks and land around them is private property. Sheryl Cummings, executive director for Minnesota Operation Lifesaver, said: “It’s not only illegal, but dangerous and deadly.”
Trespassers can be fined and possibly have their photos and cameras confiscated. Union Pacific explains that safety is their number one concern. On their site they ask people to stay off Union Pacific Railroad property which includes tracks, bridges, buildings and signal towers.
