Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who denied sexually assaulting a woman earlier this year has now been charged as DNA evidence recently sent to investigators linked him to the reported attack.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman first reported the alleged assault in April.

She told investigators 27-year-old Sharif Elkarib came to her Oronoco home to get the keys to his car. She said Elkarib was friends with her boyfriend and she let him in. She said Elkarib was intoxicated and continued to drink and then became sexually aggressive. She says at one point, he pushed her onto her bed “with such force that the bed collapsed.” The woman says Elkarib eventually left and she sought medical attention.

Elkarib denied sexually assaulting the woman and told an investigator he never had physical contact with her. The complaint says a DNA sample indicated he did have contact with her and he is now facing four felony counts of criminal sexual conduct.

He has been ordered to make his first court appearance in January.
