Farmer’s Almanac’s ’24-25 Winter Forecast for Minnesota is Here
Summer fun is starting to wind down, kids are slowing starting to go back to school, and summer 2024 is already coming to a close. Summers are never long enough in Minnesota!
Naturally, that means that fall is right around the corner, and sooner or later winter will arrive. Is anyone else not looking forward to that?

Each time a seasonal change is coming everyone comes out with their own predictions for what they think the upcoming season is going to be like. The two big ones are the Farmer's Almanac and the Old Farmer's Alamanc. Yes, they're different.
The Farmer's Almanac is the one that just recently released their predictions for the upcoming 2024-2025 winter.
Farmer's Almanac Predictions for Winter 2024-25 in Minnesota
The Farmer's Almanac predicts that Minnesota will see a cold winter but with average snowfall. While I really loved the mild winter we had last year, it was really strange the lack of snow we had, so I can't be too mad about a winter with average snowfall.
To get into more specific predictions, they also say that the last week of January into the beginning of February will be the coldest portion of our winter. Another polar vortex, anyone?
And while they don't get into specifics about when they think the big snowfalls will come, they do write that during that particular stretch of cold weather, "heavy snow showers and snow squalls will bring intense bursts of snow". Plus, in their fall predictions, they mention that the first heavy snowfall could come November 8th-11th.
As for our first frost, the Farmer's Almanac didn't provide a prediction for that but the Old Farmer's Almanac did and they say that Minnesota's first frost will be between October 1st and October 15th depending on where you are in the state. That's way too early for me!
