Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office Donates Equipment To Ukraine
In an effort to help Ukraine and their fight, Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge took a road trip to Steele County on Wednesday to donate unused ballistic and tactical equipment.
According to a social media post, the sheriff's office donated 28 ballistic and tactical vests, along with 25 ballistic helmets that all will be sent to Ukraine to help their fight.
"These vests, worn by our deputies, are replaced by grant funding every 5 years," the sheriff's office said. "They are in good condition and in our testing, retain their level of protection many years beyond. We have kept this gear for years in case it is needed. We are proud to provide this help on behalf of the people of Fillmore County."
Sheriff DeGeorge teamed up with Steele County Sheriff Lon Thiele for this mission on behalf of the two agencies.
This is part of a statewide initiative and many county sheriff's offices and first responders across the state took part in donating.
