Once-Popular Clothing Brand Now Closing Its Last Minnesota Location
It feels like quite a few big chains are either closing lots of locations or are shutting down completely. The most recent one was Joann's announcing that they're closing all locations. But now there's a once-popular clothing store that's closing all locations as well.

This is a clothing brand I used to shop at back in the day and I thought they still had tons of locations in Minnesota.
I remember shopping here at the Mall of America but it turns out that one has been closed for a few years. The only remaining location of this clothing brand is at the Apache Mall in Rochester.
But pretty soon, there won't be any more of these locations in Minnesota or in the entire US.

Forever 21 Closing All US Locations
Forever 21 has announced they are filing for bankruptcy for a second time, but this time they are also closing all of their locations across the US.
Forever 21 was founded in 1984 (I didn't realize it had been around that long!) and its heyday was in the early 2010s. However, later in the 2010s online "ultra-cheap fast-fashion retailers" like Shein and Temu started to pop up and started causing trouble for the company.
The first time they filed for bankruptcy was in 2019. They were bought out by a company called Authentic Brands and evidently, Authentic Brands regrets that decision.
In a 2024 interview, the CEO of Authentic Brands said that the purchase of Forever 21 was "'probably the biggest mistake I made.'"
Forever 21 just isn't as popular with the current generation as it was with my generation, the millennials. And so they have decided to close all of their stores across the US.
NBC reports that on Sunday the operator of the US unit of Forever 21 said: "foreign competition from fast-fashion rivals, rising costs, economic challenges and evolving consumer trends were to blame."
Expect More Companies to Close in 2025
It's predicted that this won't be close to the end of big chains closing. NBC writes that "retail store closures hit their highest level since the pandemic in 2024" and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down.
"[Analysts] expect brick-and-mortar operators to close more locations this year."
No word yet on when the Forever 21 location in the Apache Mall will be closing.
