New Orleans, MN (KROC-AM News) - His attendance at a funeral in Tennessee produced the tip that led to the capture of a former Rochester man accused of killing a former Rochester teacher.

NOLA.com, a website featuring stories by the New Orleans Advocate and the Times-Picayune says the tip allowed U.S. Marshals to apprehend 36-year-old Preston Higgs as he was traveling aboard a Greyhound Bus in Indiana. He is facing a second-degree murder charge connected to the stabbing death of Liz Quackenbush.

The 39-year-old former Rochester Public Schools employee was found murdered in the home she shared with Higgs in early March. Several days later, an arrest warrant was issued for Higgs.

Previous media reports indicate Quackenbush, who grew up in Rochester, moved to Louisiana two years ago and was soon joined by Higgs.
