A month ago, I wrote about Gooseberry Falls State Park in Two Harbors being up for best state park in the entire country. This was being done by USAToday's 10 Best and so it was up to us to vote and get Gooseberry Falls to the top.

Well, I'm happy to say that we did it! Gooseberry Falls has officially been named the best state park in the US!

The Most Visited State Park in Minnesota

It's not too surprising that Gooseberry Falls was in the running for this title, it is, after all, Minnesota's most visited state park with the Minnesota DNR reporting that there's an average of more than 760,000 people that visit each year.

Gooseberry Falls is also just stunning. There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

The Best State Park in the US

USAToday has this to say about Gooseberry Falls:

Gooseberry Falls features a series of five dramatic waterfalls cascading through a rugged gorge of volcanic rock. The park's 18 miles of trails wind through aspen, spruce, and pine forests, offering hikers opportunities to spot otters, black bears, and more than 225 bird species, including bald eagles.

I've been to Gooseberry Falls many, many times in my life. My family and I went a few times when I was a kid, I've ended up there at least once for a school field trip, some high school friends and I took a trip to the area and stopped by Gooseberry Falls, and that's where one of my first trips with my now in-laws happened.

If you're from Minnesota, you have many memories at Gooseberry Falls. And if you've somehow never been, you need to get there this summer. It really is amazing!
