The Rochester Downtown Alliance is responsible for some of the coolest events in town like Thursdays Downtown and Social Ice and they're now asking for the public's help to plan the next party.

The RDA has announced a "Shark Tank" style competition for downtown Rochester events with a $3000 grant up for grabs. The organization says the competition is open to new or existing event organizers and this  Start-Up Event Grant is intended to support the creativity of other members of the downtown community.

“How others imagine or re-ignite events is something I’m excited to see. I hope the proposals push the envelope for downtown Rochester in 2020,” said Holly Masek, RDA executive director.

Full Start-Up Event Grant guidelines can be found on the RDA website. The winner will be selected on January 14th at a "Pitch Night". Applicants will be able to present their ideas in a Shark Tank-style pitch to a panel of judges at One Discovery Square. The public is invited to hear the pitches and to cast a vote for their favorite event idea.
