Hardest-Working States in US – Why It’s Good Minnesota is No. 19
It turns out Minnesotans know how to work hard and party hard. Or relax hard, whatever it is you like to do in your free time. There's a study out revealing the hardest-working states, and Minnesota landed in a respectable spot, but not the top 10.

Are Minnesotans Hard-Working?
I definitely think we Minnesotans are hard workers, and I think that our ranking proves that we put in the hard work, but also know when it's time to take a break. We're capable of a good work-life balance.
And that actually seems to be exactly what WalletHub reveals with this study. To determine the rankings, they looked at categories that included:
Average Workweek Hours
Share of Workers with Multiple Jobs
Annual Volunteer Hours Per Resident
Employment Rate
Average Leisure Time Spent per Day

So the more time that was spent not working, the higher you'd be on the list. This is making me even more happy that we ended up in the spot we did!
Like I said, we did not land in the top 10. But we did land in the top 20, just barely, at number 19. I feel like that's a respectable ranking considering how it was determined.
Right below us, at number 20, is Alabama, and right above us, at number 18, is our neighbor, Iowa.
The Hardest Working States in the US
As for the top 5 hardest-working states:
5. Hawaii
4. Texas
3. South Dakota
2. Alaska
1. North Dakota
After learning more about what was considered to determine the rankings, I wouldn't want to be in the top 10, that's for sure. It's healthy to have a good work-life balance.
