Along with the Minnesota State Fair, there are also several sporting events happening in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Prepare to rub bumpers with your fellow Minnesotans today as Twin Cities roads are going to be PACKED.

Not only has the Great-Minnesota-Get-Together been flirting with record attendance every single day since it's opened, but now our favorite sports teams are hosting home games on top of that, which should make things interesting for those with problems with road rage.

Here's what's all happening on on this first day of September:

  • Vikings host their final preseason game against the L.A. Rams at U.S. Bank Stadium at 7 p.m.
  • Twins host the Chicago White Sox at Target Field at 7:10 p.m.
  • St. Paul Saints have a home game at CHS field at 7:05 p.m.
  • Gophers football team opens their season by hosting Oregon State at TCF Bank Stadium at 8 p.m.
  • U of M Minneapolis campus park and ride to the State Fair will be unavailable on Thursday

Metro Transit’s spokesman tells the Star Tribune they’re expecting six-figure ridership again Thursday and will be using every bus and train car they have a driver for.

This could very well be the busiest traffic day of the year in the Twin Cities... so if you're planning on leaving early for a long Labor Day weekend - for your own sanity, we suggest you wait until Friday morning instead!
