It's a job that I would never want so I'm thankful there are brave men and women willing to work in law enforcement. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the work they do in Southeast Minnesota.

This week is National Police Week, a week to recognize active law enforcement officers and remember those that have lost their lives while on the job. The City of Rochester sent a press release explaining that they'll light up the dome above city hall this week in blue: "The Rochester Police Department is dedicated to the community it serves. This tribute will be a silent reminder of the courage, dedication and sacrifice officers make to help ensure the safety of those within our community whether residents, employees or visitors."

Mayor Norton states, “It is important that we let our community know the essential and vital role that the Rochester Police Department plays safeguarding our lives and property despite personal risk every time an officer puts on the uniform.”
