Winter Is Coming: Here’s What Farmers’ Almanac Predicts For Wisconsin
Fall is definitely in the air and it's been pretty crisp in the mornings. We all know winter is coming and this crisp morning Northland air has made me realize I don't think I am ready for it just yet.
I don't have a say but if I did, I would extend fall as much as possible. Last winter seemed to drag on and I have a feeling we are in for a similar season this time around.

I like to see what different outlooks say for the winter season. Sometimes it makes me feel better and other times it makes me feel worse. One of the outlooks I always read is the Farmers' Almanac.
So what is the publication saying about this winter season in Wisconsin? Let's take a closer look before I chicken out!

What Is The Farmers' Almanac Predicting For Wisconsin This Winter?
Brace yourself. The Farmers' Almanac released their 2026 - 2027 winter outlook and it does look a bit spooky. Their outlook? Cold and snowy for the winter ahead.
In fact, it looks like Wisconsin will be even snowier than Minnesota this winter, as Minnesota is expected to be 'snowy at times' rather than having long, snowy periods.

Overall, temperatures will be average, which unfortunately is cold for our region. The midwest, including Wisconsin, could see 'sudden' snow squalls, blustery winds and short bursts of bitter cold.

It doesn't look like Wisconsin will be as windy as its neighbors to the west so that is good, right? Overall, the Farmers' Almanac says to expect 'quick bursts of snow and cold' across the northern part of the country. Yay?

So while we will see our usual cold weather in Wisconsin this winter, we won't see anything super bitter or frigid, except for a few brief cold snaps here and there. I guess I would call that a win.

In case you didn't know, the Farmers' Almanac has an 80 to 85 percent success rate, according to their website. They look at a mix of sunspot cycles, lunar position, tidal pull and historical weather patterns to conduct their outlooks but have never shared the secret sauce.
I guess we will see what happens! As for Minnesota's outlook, it is pretty similar to that of Wisconsin, just a little windier. Prepare for the wind to hurt your face.
