A Minnesota flavor giant, Hormel, has announced a new flavor for one of its most polarizing food items. SPAM. The newest flavor is a fusion flavor that is Korean BBQ. The product is only available at Walmart locations, or online.

According to SPAM's website the newest flavor is described as:

We are expanding our flavors with inspirations from around the globe while making sure the comforting taste of the SPAM® brand shines through. Pulling in familiar flavors from Korean-cuisine. SPAM® Korean BBQ Flavored is a perfect blend of soy sauce, garlic, ginger, paprika and sesame with a hint of spice from gochujang paste. Use it to elevate burgers, stir fry or Musubi to another level of Mmm. That’s why the SPAM® brand is an iconic global brand! Fully cooked and shelf stable, it’s craveable and versatile so keep it stocked in the pantry for quick meals your family will love! You can add it to breakfast, lunch and dinner and know you’re getting the good stuff.

Did you catch the flavors involved? Soy sauce, garlic, ginger, paprika, and sesame...that sounds pretty good to those of us that like Korean/Asian food.

I was told once that you can have 'fun' with SPAM, but never to make fun of SPAM on air. That piece of advice has stuck with me for the last decade.

I've had just about every flavor that SPAM has rolled out over the last 7 years, even the figgy pudding flavor, as my wife and I were married in Austin, and we often celebrate our anniversary with a trip to the SPAM museum.
