South St. Paul, MN (MinnesotaNow)- Authorities in the Twin Cities area are conducting a death investigation after recovering a body from the Mississippi River.

A Facebook post published by the South St. Paul Police Department indicates authorities were at the scene around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon. 

So far limited information has been released.

Body Recovered from Mississippi River South of Downtown St. Paul Airport

Officers were assisting the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and South Metro Fire agency with the recovery. 

First responders recovered the body in the area of the Kaposia Landing, which is just south of the St. Paul Airport. 

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office is leading the death investigation. Authorities have not released the name of the person recovered from the river. 

South St. Paul Police say there is no threat to the public.
