Rochester Police Respond to Downtown Bomb Threat, Set up Perimeter in Area of Mayo Buildings and Businesses

Grayson says officers established a perimeter within the area of West Center St., 2nd St. SW, 1st Ave. SW and 3rd Ave. SW.

The area includes the Mayo Clinic’s Gonda and Mayo Buildings, the Kahler and Marriott hotels, a parking garage, restaurants and other businesses.

Grayson says no explosives were found and that officers cleared the scene about 50 minutes after they arrived. There were no evacuations and Grayson says police are investigating.

It was the second day in a row that local law enforcement responded to a bomb-threat type of incident.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said someone called in a bomb threat to Star Transportation in Stewartville on Tuesday.

Authorities evacuated that business and neighboring businesses and did not find any suspicious devices.
