The road closure is related to the City of Rochester’s Downtown Building Energy Transition, an initiative to shift the power source of the city’s downtown buildings to geothermal energy.

Similar work to shift Rochester City Hall to Geothermal was completed over an eight-month time span in 2023, a news release issued by the city says.
