Charges: Fentanyl, Cocaine & Gun Found During Raid of Drug Offender's Rochester Home
38-year-old Raul Carreon Zarate is charged with second-degree drug possession, fifth-degree drug possession and possession of a firearm as a person convicted of a violent crime.
The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Wednesday, says Zarate had blue powder on his nose when officers made contact with him ahead of the search.
Inside of the home, law enforcement found 81 M30 pills, which typically contain fentanyl, according to the court document.

A test of one of the pills did not detect the presence of fentanyl, however the pill was left whole and typically needs to be cut in half to detect the deadly drug, the complaint says.
Police also found 6.4 grams of cocaine, two working scales with residue that tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl and a handgun that was stored in a safe, the charges say.
Zarate admitted the pills and cocaine were his and said he was given the gun, the complaint says.

Court records indicate Zarate was convicted of fifth-degree drug possession earlier this year, a crime that makes him ineligible to possess a firearm.
The new case file indicates Zarate posted his $10,000 conditional bail set in the case following his first court appearance Wednesday. He’s due back in court next month.
