Minneapolis, MN (MinnesotaNow)- There have been at least three fatal shootings in a span of less than 13 hours in Minnesota’s largest city.

Minneapolis Police say the first incident of fatal gunfire was a mass shooting near a catholic high school. It happened around 1:30 p.m. 

The second fatal shooting occurred around 8:00 Tuesday night. The third happened shortly after 2:00 Wednesday morning.

Minneapolis Police Investigating Three Fatal Shootings, Including Mass Shooting

As of Wednesday morning, police are still looking for the shooter who killed one person and injured six others at a south Minneapolis intersection near Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. 

The person killed in the shooting is being described as a man. A woman and five men were wounded. 

Police Chief  Chief O’Hara said three of the victims sustained critical, life-threatening injuries but are expected to survive. He said it appears the shooter opened fire on a group of people standing on the sidewalk.

Officers responded to the second deadly shooting of the day in the 2700 block of 3rd Ave. South. Responding officers found a man in his 20’s suffering from life-threatening wounds. 

He was brought to a hospital where he died. About 20 minutes after the shooting was reported, a man in his 20’s was dropped off at a hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. 

Minneapolis police say he was also hit in Tuesday evening’s shooting. The victims were believed to have been standing outside when they were hit by the gunfire, police indicate. 

The third shooting occurred in the 800 block of Hennepin Ave. Officers responding to the gunfire found the man with fatal gunshot wounds. 

About 10 minutes after police responded to the downtown shooting, a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was brought to a hospital.

Police determined he and the man killed in the shooting were with a group standing on a sidewalk when the gunman fired on them at close range then fled on foot. 

The names of the victims have not been released. As of Wednesday morning no arrests have been announced. 

Police say it’s not known if the shootings on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning are related to the mass shooting Tuesday afternoon.
