Body of Missing La Crosse Woman Found in Mississippi River
La Crosse, MN (KROC-AM News) - The search for a missing La Crosse woman ended tragically today.
The City of La Crosse issued a press release stating that the Houston County Sheriff's Office notified La Crosse Police that the body of Elliotte Heinz had been recovered from the Mississippi River near Brownsville. The 22-year-old woman was reported missing on Sunday.

A statement from the Houston County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded around 10:15 AM to a 911 call from a fisherman who reported locating a body in the Mississippi River. The location was just south of Lawrence Lake Marina in Brownsville.
La Crosse Police earlier reported that the graduate of Viterbo College in La Crosse was last seen walking south on the 500 block of Front Street South shortly after 3:20 AM last Sunday. Family members indicated that she was on her way home from a local bar.
“This was not the outcome we had hoped for throughout this search. Our thoughts are with Elliotte’s family, friends, and all those who knew Elliotte. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from so many within the La Crosse community, the State of Wisconsin, and nationally to locate Elliotte,” said La Crosse Police Chief Shawn Kudron.
The news release issued by the City of La Crosse says police continue to investigate the case and are waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
