Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has admitted to a felony charge for leading Rochester police on a chase with a small child in his vehicle.

Court records indicate 22-year-old Daniel Lamont Burton was arrested on the morning of Halloween last year after a Rochester police officer initiated a traffic stop along North Broadway. The criminal complaint in the case says the officer had determined the driver of the vehicle was the subject of an active arrest warrant.

The charges stated that Burton initially pulled over, but allegedly sped away after the officer ordered him out of the vehicle and informed him that he was under arrest. Rochester police reported seeing Burton run a red light at the intersection of North Broadway and 7th Street and driving at a high rate of speed through traffic.

The court document says Rochester police caught up with him about an hour later at his residence and took him into custody.

He was charged with a felony count of fleeing police and misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and driving after revocation. Under a plea agreement that was finalized in Olmsted County Court today, Burton entered a guilty plea to the felony charge.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in March.
