Not Just Lotto Wins: Minnesota is One of the Luckiest States in the US
When you hear about someone being lucky, you might automatically think about the lottery or casinos. While that has a little bit to do with this new study, it's not the whole story.
Minnesota was just named one of the luckiest states in the country, and it's not just based on lottery wins.

Minnesota is a Safe and Lucky Place to Live
Action Network did the study and looked at tons of different metrics to determine which states are the most and least lucky.
They looked into things like accidents at work, lightning strikes, natural disasters, credit scores, accidents that resulted in death, and, yes, they looked at lottery winnings, too. That, along with other "financial stability, personal safety, and day-to-day quality of life" factors were taken into consideration.
The results showed that Minnesota is the third luckiest state in the US. Lucky us!

Beating us in second place is Iowa, and taking the top spot for the luckiest state is New Hampshire.
As for the unluckiest states, the bottom three are Mississippi, California, and the most unlucky state is Texas.
How Minnesota Ranked as One of the Luckiest States
Our highest performing categories for this study were that, on average, Minnesotans have the highest credit score in the country, and we had the lowest accidental death rate. Two very good things!
We also have quite a few lottery wins that helped us get to the number three spot, with 23 major lottery wins, one of the highest in the US.
