Man Sentenced in Violent Rochester Home Invasion

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The first of four men charged in connection with a violent home invasion in Rochester on Mother’s Day last year has been sentenced.

Accepted Plea Agreement

Twenty-year-old Kane Lee Williams earlier entered guilty pleas to an aiding and abetting first-degree burglary charge and a misdemeanor assault charge for his role in the crime. He originally faced three counts of aiding and abetting first-degree burglary, two counts of aiding and abetting felony theft, along with a misdemeanor assault charge.

Intruders Smashed Through Sliding Glass Door

According to the criminal complaint, Williams and three other men were accused of smashing through a sliding glass door into a northwest Rochester condominium and assaulting the occupant. The court document says the victim told police he was inside the bathroom when he heard a loud “bang” on the sliding glass door and then saw the glass shatter as the intruders rushed inside.

Cash and Expensive Shoes Stolen

The victim also told police that he was assaulted by the intruders, and the attack was recorded by a juvenile girl. The criminal complaint says the victim reported that the intruders stole $3,000 in cash and a pair of shoes valued at around $1,800.

Jail and Probation

Williams was sentenced today to 90 days in jail and five years of probation. He was given credit for 30 days he has already spent in jail and was granted work-release privileges. His sentencing order includes a 48-month stayed prison sentence that could be imposed if he fails to complete his probation.

One of the other men charged in the case, 22-year-old Anthony Lamar Alexander, entered into a plea agreement last November and admitted to the same charges. He is scheduled to be sentenced in June.

The two other defendants are 19-year-old Brandon Lawson and 18-year-old Jamykeal Gill-Sanders. Lawson is currently scheduled to stand trial in June, while an arrest warrant was issued for Gill-Sanders after he failed to appear for a court hearing earlier this week.
