For a town that is cutting edge in the medical world, Rochester has a few, weird quirks.

Example #1, we have a bunch of coffee shops and banks, but if you want to have your kid learn how to swim, a skill that saves lives, you'll probably have to go to another town.  We just don't have enough facilities or classes for the number of kids in this town.  And plan to sign up early because these get booked as soon as registration opens.

Example #2, we have some amazing gyms in town, but if you want to workout and have a place that provides childcare while you shoot hoops, go for a swim, or attend a cycling class, good luck.  The one spot people refer you to for that option is too expensive for a large chunk of the Rochester population.  My family is included in that.

One of the oddest things that I noticed recently was posted at a gas station.  I honestly had to do a double-take because I couldn't believe it when I saw it...and had no idea this was a real ordinance.

Are car washes banned between 11:01 pm and 5:59 am because of the noise it makes?  Maybe it is because of the water runoff and something special happening with our water supply at that time?  I tried searching "car wash" on the City of Rochester website but couldn't find a specific answer.

Is This Sign Posted At All Gas Stations And Car Washes in Rochester?

I didn't drive to them all, so not sure.  That sign is up at the Kwik Trip near Century High School.
