Rochester Residents Invited to Ask Questions About Homelessness at C2 Forum

One hot topic in Rochester is those that we see around town who are experiencing homelessness.  The voices that I hear about this topic are just as polarizing as people talking about politics - a mixture of hate vs. love.

I've sat with individuals experiencing homelessness in our town, and hearing their stories is always a reminder to me that these are humans...just like me...just like you.  Just like one of my brothers at one point in his life.

In Minnesota alone, over 9,200 people were reported to be experiencing homelessness in January 2024.

Sadly, one of the biggest misconceptions about those experiencing homelessness is that they are all addicts.  That is just not the case.  If you believe that, I highly recommend checking into these stats yourself, take a tour of the day center in town called The Landing MN, and ask questions.  It is a problem for some but it is not a blanket issue for all.

If you've never walked inside that building, you will be shocked by how many people are coming to The Landing MN for a soft place to land and the variety of services provided in this space.  The Landing MN collaborates with numerous nonprofits and organizations, and this has become a place for many to know they are loved, cared for, and have received help and are now successfully housed.

Yes, people have come out of homelessness in our community.
