Brrring it on! Several high schools from southeast Minnesota showed their support for Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) and learned firsthand what it meant to be “freezin’ for a reason’!”

It takes courage, bravery and a little bit of crazy to be a Polar Plunger. Plungers put it all on the line as they jump to frozen glory to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. The funds raised benefit thousands of SOMN athletes as they train, compete and transform themselves, their communities and the world.

This year's Rochester Polar Plunge for Special Olympics is tomorrow, February 10 at Foster Arrends Lake. But last year, something new was introduced - It's called the "Cool School Plunge" and that happened earlier today.

In it's inaugural year the Rochester Cool School Plunge had 100 Plungers raise $9,000! However this year, between 109 students from Zumbrota-Mazeppa, Leroy-Ostrander, Dover-Eyota and Cannon Falls High schools, the kids smashed last years record with over $11,500!

$2,200 of that came from Cannon Falls lone representative Vienna Qualey. She raised that money, and even jumped today in memory of her friend Kim, who was a special Minnesota athlete herself:

The Rochester Plunge will be held at Foster Arend Park, 4109 East River Road NE in Rochester. The Plunge begins at 1:30 p.m.
