Macy’s To Close 125 Stores
Macy's announced that they will be closing 125 stores and cutting more than 2,000 jobs over the next three years. At one time, news like this would have been considered shocking, but it seems like we're hearing these kind of stories all of the time now as companies struggle to compete with online shopping.
USA Today published a statement from Macy's CEO Jeff Gennette that said, "We will focus our resources on the healthy parts of our business, directly address the unhealthy parts of the business and explore new revenue streams.''
The retail giant didn't announce which locations would be closing, but according to Yahoo Finance they plan to, "close stores in "lower tier" malls, and explore new off-mall formats, as it looks to tackle plummeting mall traffic in the United States"
