Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Mayo Clinic registered nurse has been caught stealing a large amount of fentanyl and taking the drug while at work.

A criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court says a pharmacist at St Marys Hospital contacted Rochester police in December about the suspected diversion of the powerful painkiller. Investigators eventually determined at least 81 vials of the drug had been diverted from patients between October and December.

Investigators talked with 32-year-old Tiffany Gustafson, who has a Sargeant address. She admitted taking " between 50 - 100 vials" of the drug. Gustafson also admitted injecting the drug at work and home.

She has been ordered to make her first court appearance in May.
