The sad story of malls and outlet malls seemingly dying out continues. Sure, there are quite a few malls around Minnesota that are doing well (I wrote about them recently, actually) but there are quite a few from my past that are not doing too well.

One of the malls that's not doing well is the Burnsville Center. This one makes me sad because I have so many memories at the mall, going around and shopping with friends. But now it's considered a ghost mall.

I stopped by the Burnsville Center probably a few years ago now and oh boy, was it dead.

The Medford Outlet Mall is Becoming a Ghost Mall

Another mall, or outlet mall rather, that I went to was the Medford Outlet Mall (now called Ultra Outlets of Minnesota) between Faribault and Owatonna. I didn't go there super often but I went a few times back in the day, mostly shopping with my mom.

Unfortunately, I've learned that this mall is also sort of abandoned/a ghost mall. Or it nearly is at least. I haven't been in years but I was told that it's really quiet there lately.

I mean, look at the parking lot on Google Maps from 2023:

That's crazy! And I guess it's like that on the weekends, too. I hopped on the Medford Outlet Mall's website and found that there are 15 stores open there right now. But when counting the storefronts on Google Maps, it appears there's space for 45. Oof...

It's so sad to see malls start to go away like it's the end of an era.
