MacKenzie Scott is donating billions of dollars to organizations across the country yet again, including organizations in Minnesota. The last time we talked about this happening was December of 2020 when she donated $25 million to Minnesota organizations.

MacKenzie Scott is a philanthropist, author, and also Jeff Bezos' ex-wife. I really love MacKenzie because she's a billionaire who actually cares about other people. Most billionaires (like her ex-husband) are really selfish with their money, so I'm happy she's chosen to go about the amount of money she has in a different way.

She actually promised to give away her entire fortune! She made that promise back in 2019 and she's slowly been working on it. The New York Times says that MacKenzie has donated $12 billion to 1,257 groups so far.

In 2020, the Minnesota organizations MacKenzie donated to were the YMCA of St. Paul, Casa de Esperanza in St. Paul, Community Reinvestment Fund USA, Greater Minnesota Housing Fund, Duluth Area Family YMCA, and YMCA of the North. This time around she's donating to five different organizations.

MacKenzie published a blog post on March 23rd laying out all of the organizations across the country she's donating to. The total is a whopping $3,863,125,000. According to Bring Me the News, the following amounts have been donated or will be donated to these Minnesota charities: $4.8 million to The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, $875,000 to The Red Lake Nation Boys and Girls Club, $1.25 million to The Boys and Girls Clubs of the White Earth Nation, $20 million to Planned Parenthood North Central States, $8 million to The United States of Care, and $13.5 million to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
