Wedding season is upon us. I keep telling myself that eventually the "wedding every weekend" phase will end, but it never does. I'm turning 30 in a few days, and all my friends and family are marrying off one-by-one. And now we have a solid mix of "divorce party followed by second wedding" OR "baby shower daily." It gets expensive. The average wedding guest will pay nearly $700 to attend a wedding, according to CNBC. Excuse me while I throw up a little...

That's nothing compared to the amount that the bride and groom shell out. Minnesota is just a few thousand from the national average. While it's one of the most "affordable" places to get married, it's far from a reasonable amount to spend (in my opinion). It cost Minnesota nearly $28,000 on average to have a wedding in the land of 10,000 lakes. Is anybody else having visions of money flushing down the toilet? Just me? While I totally understand how important a wedding is, I can't even begin to imagine spending that on ONE day.

So the national average cost of a wedding is just over $33,000. The most expensive place to get married is Manhattan, where people pay a cool $77,000!!! The cheapest place to tie the knot is New Mexico, where it still costs nearly $18,000. The most expensive part of the wedding is the venue (average = $15,000), followed by the engagement ring (average = $6,000). Read more at
