According to KARE 11, A Minneapolis democrat is trying to get his fellow lawmakers to approve funding for a mural celebrating Prince. Rep. Ray Dehn is requesting $250,000 of public money to have the mural created.

Do we really need to use public money to fund this? I'll admit, I'm not a big Prince fan, but I understand the impact he had on the state of Minnesota and the entertainment industry, so perhaps we do need a mural. But, a $250,000 mural?!? I know some talented artists that would create a masterpiece for a fraction of that. I bet some would even do it, just to honor of the late singer, for the cost of supplies.

The bill will be presented to the House Legacy Finance Division on Wednesday.
