Minnesota Cancels Same-Day Licenses After Fake ID Mix-Ups
Back in October of 2022, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) launched a pilot program at two DVS locations where people could get a standard ID same day.

Same-Day Driver's License in Minnesota
You could only get the standard driver's license (new, renewed, or replaced) printed the same day, not the REAL ID or Enhanced, or anything like that.

Minnesota's Same-Day Driver's Licenses Mistaken for Fakes
However, the issue came back in March, as FOX 9 reports, when people with these printed-same-day licenses were having issues at places like bars and the airport. It was because the IDs were being mistaken as fakes.

Turns out, the IDs printed same day were not as high of quality as the ones printed by the state-contracted vendor, which caused people like bar tenders and TSA agents to question if the IDs were real or not.

Because of the printing quality issue, the Minnesota DVS has decided to end the pilot program on October 31st, 2025. Good thing they did this pilot program first and only had two offices testing it out. This could have become an even bigger problem if they hadn't!
