Minnesota Woman Reunited w/ Long Lost Sister Thanks to DNA Test
After years of being separated and not knowing about each other, two sisters were reunited in the Twin Cities recently. These two sisters were part of what's called Romania's lost generation.
WCCO writes that "thirty years ago, WCCO captured the fall of a communist dictator in Romania. The countries orphanages were cramped full of children who were forced to be alone of hours at a time." Lia Pirro ended up being adopted by a Lakeville family when she was five. Her sister, Zoyie Schnieder, was adopted by a family in Kansas. But of course, Lia didn't know she had a sister until she took this DNA test.
Someone who noticed Lia's DNA test mentioned that he had met someone with a very similar story. Turns out, that person was Zoyie that this man had met! The two sisters met each other at MSP recently. They also have another sister and a brother who still live in Romania. WCCO says that Lia and Zoyie plan to visit them in January.
