Minnesota Towns You Didn’t You Know are Half Way to the North Pole and Equator
You learn something new every day! I never realized that cutting right through Minnesota is the halfway point between the North Pole and the Equator. That 'line' is the 45th parallel.
The equator is at 0° latitude and the North Pole is at 90° latitude, meaning the halfway point is the 45° latitude, aka the 45th parallel. I'm definitely not knowledgeable when it comes to latitude and longitude and where they are on the earth, so I was surprised to see that the 45th parallel actually goes through the Twin Cities. I thought it would be further north for some reason
I cruised around Google Earth for a little while and here are 8 towns that are on the 45th parallel, equally between the North Pole and the Equator, that I came across. We'll go from east to west.
