Check the List: Hundreds of Minnesota Towns Slated for an Electric Bill Credit

According to a recent Gallup Poll, the economy and inflation remain top concerns for Americans. With gas and groceries still climbing, any small win for the wallet is welcome.

That little win arrives this month for residents in 612 Minnesota communities, who are seeing a direct reduction in their electric bills thanks to the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act signed by President Joe Biden. These new federal tax credits for carbon-free nuclear energy are now being passed directly from the utility to the local taxpayer.

Xcel energy customers in Minnesota customers are receiving two separate refunds this year, largely driven by federal policy and lower fuel costs.

The Monthly "Nuclear" Credit: Average Minnesota households will see $2.46 off their monthly bill for nine months, starting April 1. On top of the tax credit, Minnesota customers are already receiving an average of $1.11 per month because actual fuel costs were lower than projected. There is nothing you need to do. Your monthly bill will be automatically adjusted with this refund.
