Kasson, Minnesota native Cori Kennedy first made headlines back in September. At the time, Cori had just announced that she had auditioned for Season 28 of The Voice, writing, “It’s time to finally let the cat out of the bag! I auditioned for The Voice!!! Beyond thankful for this opportunity, and I’m SO EXCITED for you all to tune in this season.”

When the new season premiered, everyone in Southeast Minnesota and around the country saw the singer nail her audition. The Voice coaches immediately fell in love, and Cori's social media following exploded with new fans from all across the country.

But the loudest cheers of all came from home. Kasson-Mantorville Schools made Tuesday, October 28th, Cori Kennedy Day.

Cori said she thought the idea was sweet, but she never expected the outpouring that followed. “

You’ve made rough and tough Cori into a big old softy today,” she said through happy tears in an emotional video. “I’m a mess. It’s not even 9 AM and I’m a mess.”

Cori Kennedy Eliminated During Knockout Round on The Voice

This week, during the knockout round, Cori competed in a sing-off against fellow country artist Aaron Nichols for Team Reba. Cori performed the Lady Gaga song "You and I."

Aaron was selected to advance, and Cori's time on the show came to an end.

After being eliminated from the competition, Cori shared a note on social media to thank her fans: "This has been such an incredible experience, and I’m so so thankful for every bit of it. What makes this so special to me is knowing I had all of you in my corner this whole time. I feel like I’ve already won. For now, please give Aaron his flowers because he deserves it!"

Cori Kennedy’s journey on The Voice is over, but her music career is just getting started.
