The unofficial start to summer (Memorial Day) hasn't even arrived yet and we're already talking about the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. I know, it seems so early, but they just announced their themed weekends for 2026, so it's time to start making our Fest plans.

Minnesota Renaissance Festival Weekends for 2026

The themed weekends don't mean the entire Fest is taken over by the event, but there will be lots of themed events/activities, attire, and displays. There's no wrong time to go to Ren Fest.

Whether you come all decked out in accordance with that weekend's theme or not, it's still going to be a great time!

Here are the themed weekends for 2026:

Once Upon a Time (Aug. 22nd-23rd) - This is perfect for the kiddos who love fairies, knights, princesses, and anything happily-ever-after related.

Highland Fling (Aug. 29th-30th) - There will be bagpipes, there will be feats of strength, and plenty of Scottish inspired tradition and revelry throughout the weekend.

Woofstock (Sept. 5th-7th) - Bring the doggos for a fun pet-friendly weekend. There will be themed contests, pet-focused vendors, and plenty of dog treats to go around.

Bold North Adventure (Sept. 12th-13th) - This theme is perfect for us Minnesotans. Get ready for lumberjacks, axe throwing, and much more (including a battle cry contest and a Nordic meatball eating contest).

Wine, Chocolate, and Romance (Sept. 19th-20th) - If you're looking for a more romantic weekend at Fest, this is it, with wine tastings, plenty of chocolate treats, and romantic entertainment.

Art Affair (Sept. 26th-27th) - All forms of art are celebrated during this weekend at Fest. Look for wandering artists, live demonstrations, and interactive experiences.

Oktoberfest (Oct. 3rd-4th) - Since the last weekend of Fest is in October, it's fitting to end on Oktoberfest. Obviously, there will be plenty of beer and Bavarian-themed fun.

Do You Need to Dress Up for the Minnesota Renaissance Festival?

Many people dress up for Ren Fest, but it's definitely not a requirement. I think it makes the experience that much more fun, however, getting all of the attire can start to add up, so there's absolutely no obligation to dress up.

When is the Minnesota Renaissance Festival for 2026?

Ren Fest is only open on the weekends, plus Labor Day and Festival Friday which is Friday, October 2nd this year.

The first weekend of Fest kicks off Saturday, August 22nd and the final weekend kicks off with Festival Friday, on October 2nd.
