Are There More Coffee Shops or Banks in Rochester, MN?

Rochester, Minnesota is obviously known around the world for Mayo Clinic. But for those of us that live here or live nearby, Rochester is known for the insane amount of coffee shops and banks that we have. So I wanted to figure out if there are more coffee shops or banks in Rochester.

It's a joke I learned about early on when my husband and I moved here, that there's a bank and a coffee shop on every corner. Which is actually kind of true. Why are there so many?!

I can't complain about having this many coffee shops though, I love being able to get a coffee just feet from wherever I am in town.

But the banks though. Why are there so many? I don't quite get it.

Either way, there's a lot of both, so I went to work figuring out just how many coffee shops and banks we have in Rochester.

How Many Banks and Coffee Shops are there in Rochester, MN?

My method was very scientific... ok I literally looked up "coffee shops in Rochester, MN",  "banks in Rochester, MN", and "credit unions in Rochester, MN" on Google Maps. So yes, there's the possibility of human error but I think I worked pretty hard to try and make sure I counted all of them.

So which do you think there are more of in Rochester, banks or coffee shops? Drumroll please... there are actually more banks in Rochester! I was surprised because, like I said earlier, why do we have so many banks? Is it because of all of the doctors, so we need lots of options for where they keep their money? I'm not sure.
