The 6 Most Iconic Burger Joints in Minnesota
From fast food to sit-down, Minnesota has tons of burger restaurants. You've got well-known chain restaurants, restaurants that pride themselves in the burgers they serve, and restaurants that serve other things but there's at least one burger on the menu.
Burgers are a staple in American cuisine! And also, a fun fact that I just learned, burgers are the number one food that Minnesotans want to eat on Valentine's Day according to The Matchmaking Company.

Even though you can find a burger at basically any restaurant, there are only so many that are iconic burger joints in our state. These are spots that nearly every Minnesotan knows about and if you don't you should, plus they have great burgers.
Let's get into it!

(I have to shout out Explore Minnesota and the Minnesota Reddit page for inspiring some of the restaurants that made the list.)
Minnesota's Most Iconic Burger Joints
Gordy's Hi-Hat - Cloquet
Gordy's Hi-Hat has been around since 1960 and are well-known for their 'old-fashioned' style of restaurant with a classic burger drive-in menu. Their prices are great too. A double cheeseburger is just $7.79!
King's Place - Miesville
Another spot that's easily one of the most iconic burger joints in Minnesota is Kings in Miesville. They've been around for 40 years, are family-owned, and they have 100 different burger combinations. It's crazy, you can definitely get exactly the kind of burger you want here.
The Blue Door Pub - Minneapolis and St. Paul
I've never been to one of The Blue Door Pub locations but I hear their burgers are incredible. They've been open since 2008 and they're home of the Blucy: a Juicy Lucy but instead of cheddar cheese they use blue cheese.
Matt's Bar - Minneapolis
Speaking of Juicy Lucy's, you can't have a list of iconic Minnesota burger joints and not have Matt's Bar on here. Matt's is the spot that created the Juicy Lucy back in the day. It's a tiny little place that's been around since 1954. Their food is awesome and super affordable.
Newt's - Rochester and Apple Valley
Up next is an iconic burger spot in Rochester: Newt's! The original location opened in 1980 in the Skyway in Downtown Rochester. That one is still serving walk-up orders but there's no sit-down restaurant there anymore. Newt's also has two other Rochester locations plus a location in Apple Valley.
Fitger's Brewhouse - Duluth
And finally, we have Fitger's in Duluth. I first knew Fitger's for their beer but they also have some great burgers that cannot be passed up. They opened in 1995 and have been a favorite ever since. It's also awesome to get a delicious burger plus a beer that they made just down the hall (or down the stairs or wherever they brew the beer).
